Gross Tonnage

The Fifth ship in the Voyager class the
Mariner of the Seas was crowned the
worlds largest cruise ship in 2003.
Though the Queen Mary 2 was later
re-crowned, Royal Caribbean two years
later launched the Freedom of the Seas
recapturing the largest cruise ship.
Spanning fifteen public decks and one
thousand sixty feet and two inches long
The Mariner of the Seas offers
something for everyone.

Like every Royal Caribbean ship the
rock wall stands about the ship located
on the sports deck along with the
volleyball/basketball court, golf simulator
and mini golf.
Head over to the Windjammer Café! For Breakfast, lunch, a quite
dinner or a snack. Two Specialty restaurants, Chops Grille and
Portofinos are well worth the extra charge. Make your reservations
early or pre-cruise these tend to fill up fast.
The Royal Promenade
down the center of the ship.
My first time seeing it was
on the Explorer and though
I had seen many pictures of
it nothing can describe what
you see the first time you
walk through it. Truly an
awesome innovation and a
great gathering place. With
shops, a café, an English
pub or just heading to the
dining room. The
Promenade well take you
almost anywhere through
out the ship.
The art of the Mariner is one of the best that I have ever seen on
any Royal Caribbean Ship. You will find yourself at times just
wandering the ship and just looking. Paintings, sculptures, detailed
marble and some very interesting modern art shows how Royal
Caribbean expresses “Something for everyone” aboard their ships.

Food is about the same as other RCCL ships, not including their
specialty restaurants and we find ourselves eating lunch in the
dining room instead of the windjammer.
Crew is great and always willing to help out. Having been on the
Mariner on three different occasions including with “Hogs on the
High Seas”, which we didn’t know they were going to be there. One
of the best Mariners cruises.

All in all I really enjoy the Mariner and was sad that it she was being
sent to California, yet we are getting the Freedom of the Seas, a
little longer and well a little bigger.
